Guitar furniture

Designer Rick Metz has created a series of guitar influenced furniture pieces. You can get a sunburst Gibson Les Paul chair or maybe you would prefer a black Strat chair? If you don't want a guitar chair maybe you would prefer a guitar coffee table although the dimensions and shape look a bit odd?! In which case you may prefer the simplicity of a pick coffee table or pick clock. I wonder if you could get the pick table painted like the Joe Satriani signature picks?

Air Guitar Pro

I personally think that Air Guitar competitions are under serious threat from the potential Guitar Hero gaming competitions that I'm sure will start popping up soon around the globe, and... why not it actually has a point and you can mod real guitars to become GH controllers! But for the hardcore Air Guitar fans this gadget might just add that extra dimension that will help put you in contention for the Air Guitar World Championships!

In other Ozzy news, the prince of darkness is to be the first induction to the Birmingham walk of fame, here is the link to the walk of fame site. Being a Brummie myself, I think this is hilarious.

For the budding Luthier!

Have you ever wanted to convert your acoustic to have a cutaway? Probably not or chances are you would have bought a cutaway acoustic in the first place, but just in case there are some carpentary masters who fancy it there is an article over at Instructables showing you exactly how to do it!

The first step they list is get a guitar with a link to eBay, so make sure you read "Buying a guitar on eBay" on The Guitar Resource first.

Win a Yamaha Wes Borland painted guitar

Yamaha have launched a new competition to win a hand painted RGX A2 (not the CV820 WB that I originally thought! Thanks to G L Wilson for noticing that! ) there is an example paint job on the competition form page but the small print does say that the artwork will be different, which is probably a good thing in most people's eyes! You could always sell it on eBay and buy a normal RGX A2 instead though!

GuitarNoize.com is alive!!

It's been a busy week for me, first I started GuitarNoize on blogspot, then I launched GuitarLead.net and now thanks to an incredible design by my fellow Soap Colleague Ronchy I have just transfered GuitarNoize to it's final resting place, GuitarNoize.com! I hope you like the new design, it's definitely worthy of inclusion on any future 'Wicked Worn' lists by Cameron Moll! Oh and I'm using sIFR to replace the headings with nice flash headings.

Guitritus

I just stumbled across this weblog Guitritus which has some excellent riffs, tips, lessons and general guitar stuff with clear visuals to help you learn. Apart from all the great examples there are also some funny articles like this one which I suppose will be pretty much irrelevant unless you're at least 25 years old! In the beginning, God created Slash.

Ampeg's see-though Bass amp

MCA (The Beastie Boys) of all people commissioned Ampeg to build a custom clear amp for him, apparently it is a customised B15R and it looks amazing, check out the pics here. Also in the same story it mentions that The Beastie Boys are set to release a new instrumental album of new material called "The Mix Up".

New Fender.com website

I haven't seen any news about this but Fender have just launched a new design of their website which seems to be a lot more community focussed and uses one of my personal fave tricks the lightbox overlay when you click to enlarge a guitar, try it yourself click on the enlarge image button under the guitar picture on this page. Very nice.

I only wish they would update the Australian site it looks like it was designed by a 12 year old in 1994!

Guitars for girls

Daisy Rock guitars look like they have started to carve a niche market for themselves as producers of girls guitars. They have even managed to get into Cosmo! Check it out here (oh yeah and six string master John Mayer managed to get a look in too!).

UPDATE: After reading this interview with Tish Ciravolo the founder of Daisy Rock guitars I was made aware of the Gibson Les Paul Vixen and Les Paul Goddess, lighter and smaller guitars more suited for female guitarists.
