2010 London Music Show cancelled
Posted by Jon in • Guitar News,

Living in Australia I forget sometimes just how good we’ve had it the last year or so while the rest of the world seems to have crumbled into recession our government managed to keep Australia afloat with some contraversial personal and business cash incentives and as a web developer I have never been busier so this news came as a total shock to me:
We are sorry to announce that we’ve made the decision to postpone the 2010 London Music Show until 2011 due to exceptionally tough market conditions.
We’re absolutely determined that the first ever London Music Show will offer the most exciting and interactive music show in the UK and we won’t compromise on this promise. We’ll provide details on the 2011 event in due course.
We’d like to thank everyone that has shown their support for the London Music Show. For more details please contact events.londonmusicshow@futurenet.com
Anyone who has purchased tickets for this year’s event will of course receive a full refund. SEE, our ticket provider, will be in touch shortly. For further ticket refund information please contact 0871 620 7059.

Gibson to Reproduce Classic Randy Rhoads Les Paul
Posted by Jon in • Guitar News,

The cynic in me always thinks the worst when I see anything branded with Randy Rhoads but this image is probably the best ad for a Gibson Les Paul ever. The image of Randy and his 1974 Les Paul Custom what springs to mind when I hear his name rather than the Polka dot Flying V it just suited him so perfecly, just check out the video below to see what I mean!
It is one of the most iconic guitars in rock history: Randy Rhoads’ 1974 Les Paul Custom. The guitar that Ozzy Osbourne sideman Randy Rhoads drove to stardom on the landmark albums Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman has been one of the most requested re-issues ever. Now the Gibson Custom Shop is pleased to announce the release of this legendary axe. The guitar that drove “Crazy Train” off the rails will soon be available in stores. - via Gibson Lifestyle
Dave Weiner's new 7 String PRS 513
Posted by Jon in • Cool Guitars,

I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen a 7 string PRS guitar before, I’m sure someone must have ordered one through the Custom Shop at some point but it’s cool to see Dave Weiner sporting a very fine model he even has his name on the Truss Rod cover plate. I wonder if this is the basis for a new PRS model?

Updated with video demo!
StevieSnacks.com Blues Guitar Lessons
Posted by Jon in • Guitar Sites,
I’ve been following Anthony from StevieSnacks.com for a while on YouTube (gr8bluesgtr) and I wanted to share the great lessons that are available. Not only does Anthony teach guitar licks lessons but he also goes into detail about concepts behind licks too such as the example above. Also Anthony teaches beyond guitar lessons such as how to get a great tone and how amplifiers work for instance check out the video titled “Tube Amps 3: Preamp And Power Tubes” for a great in-depth lesson on how to use the preamp and power amp to get the tone you want.
StevieSnacks.com offer a range of Free and Premium guitar lessons which are divided up into various categories and difficulty levels, there is a nice flow chart which helps you find exactly the kind of lesson you are after here - http://www.steviesnacks.com/premium-lessons/ the price of lessons varies depending on the DVD Series you wish to purchase but it averages at around $21 per DVD (also available as a downloadable HD video). Of course there are loads of free lessons too and they are all great and varied, I’m surprised he gives away so much for free! If you are thinking of entering the Guitar Noize Blue Noize solo contest, these lessons would be a great way to improve your entry!
Anthony is a top class blues guitar player and teacher, as the site name suggests his style does have a large Stevie Ray Vaughan influence and some lessons focus on complete tracks such as “Texas Flood” and “Lenny” but even the SRV flavoured lessons can be adapted to your own style of playing. Make sure you check out Anthony’s gear demos too, it’s amazing seeing how a Fender Blues Junior sounds in the right hands!
Head over to www.steviesnacks.com for more info.
Also check out the StevieSnacks.com unofficial Blue Noize Blues Solo contest entry (I personally think it should be official but I’ll leave that up to Anthony)
