ESP Richie Sambora LTD SA-2
Posted by Jon in • Crazy Guitar Designs

Well he’s jumped ship again, last time I saw Richie Sambora promoting a guitar it was a Floyd Rose and who knows how many endorsements he’s been through since his Kramer days! Yeah ok I am jealous and so are you admit it! However I’m not particularly jealous of his most recent signature model, the ESP Richie Sambora LTD SA-2 (what happened to the SA-1?!) it looks like Michael Schenker was asked to design a surf guitar!
There aren’t any details available yet on the ESP site because they are announcing this model at the 2008 Winter NAMM show in a few days time so check their site over the next week for updates.

C’mon, fess up. How much fun would it be to hear Schenker do a version of “Misirlou”?
That is a very random response? haha!
I quite like the design, but I’m not one for all the locking trem gubbins. The design would suggest a Bigsby to me, but I guess Mr Sambora wanted the dive-bombing factor built in.
I don’t like the design, too round for me and this black-white thing, well, it is not for me. But if he would sign it for me and send it here, well, that would be an other story
Yeah GL I have to admit a locking trem on a design like this really doesn’t seem to fit, in fact I don’t think it even suits Sambora’s style at all!
had the great oppertunity to play sambora’s actual Guitar which this signature is copied from and its a fabulous guitar. p.s the oppertunity came when i was a technician at O2 Dome last Year. if its as good as the original it will be a cracking guitar. cheers Richie my friend for the great time i had. James
Hey James, that’s pretty cool that you played Richie’s guitar! I have to say I still can’t get used to the look of it but Sambora is a great guitarist with a lot of experience so I expect it is as good as you say.
It is trying to be like the one he had Floyd Rose build for him, but it has tuners on the head. His personal ones were built with the new floyd system, the qick change or soemthing.
It is surprising that LTD are making as aopposed to that of ESP, because he has previously only gone with the big boys; Fender, Gibson, Martin, Taylor, Kramer, in the early days, but this, this is not right.
It looks like a garage punk guitar… aside from the floyd, i can see the strokes clamouring for at least fourty!
Haha, yes I think it would suit The Strokes!!
