Hard Taka - my first RiffCast
Posted by Jon
I just created my first RiffCast using Sonoma Riffworks. It is a very simple process, once you are happy with your song (well I wasn’t totally happy with my song but I’m still messing around to see what I can do, and I’m not much of a song writer) you simple click Riffcast, fill in some details about the track such as the name and names of the people who recorded on it and then enter your username and password and click submit and wait for it to create your Riffcast. In my case it took about 10 seconds and then I received an email with a link to my Riffcast page and the main Riffcast page was also updated with my Riff. It’s not great but it’s about 2 hours of sitting in front of my laptop with my Takamine TEAN46C acoustic and using Amplitube Live 2 which comes with Riffworks standard to process my guitar sound.

Whoa. That was trippy-rockin’. I dig sir.
What effects did you use for your melodies?
Thanks Jason I just used the Auto Wah and delay stomp box in Amplitube, then added a bit of reverb from the Riffworks effects rack. The amps sound so amazing in Amplitube, I can’t believe that it can make my acoustic guitar sound like that!
Yeah. That’s crazy. You get a great sound.
My software Song ACID has little effects or amp settings.
You can get Amplitube as a stand alone app too, which has even more amps and effects. There is also a Jimi Hendrix version which has some great classic Jimi sounds, might look into that one too!
Cool. I’ve actually seen a demo video of that Jimi Hendrix one. Didn’t know it was amplitude.
Jon, this is totally unrelated to playing guitar but I have to ask. It’s eating me up inside man.
Do you Aussies think that little Australian gecko from US Geico commercials is ridiculous or what? If you’ve seen them…
Do you have a youtube link? I’ve never heard of it?
I just found a couple of ads for Geico:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ggn_qr7qX30
But it’s a English (specifically London area) accent not Aussie?
When I was in The States everyone thought I had an Australian accent (it’s English), so there’s obviously a cultural aural blind spot there
Funky song, I like it
Thanks James, but next time I really need to do something with a different tempo, I’m so lazy I don’t even change it from 120 everytime I load it up!
“cultural aural blind spot there”
Must be…
Isn’t 120 bpm the perfect tempo due to being almost 2 times the regular heartbeat, or something?
So why not 60bpm? or 180bpm ooh yeah jungalistic!
Jason thinks that Gecko geezer sounds like an Aussie. He also thinks your RiffCast sounds good. I see a pattern developing
Oooh you nasty pastie! Whats the matter, not rock enough for ya? Well I don’t have your SG to rock out on!
