Josh Pyke's guitar boat
Posted by Jon

I don’t normally post on a saturday but something caught my eye over at Guitar Site that I had to share with you. Sydney singer Josh Pyke recently recorded a video for his new song which saw him sailing around Rozelle Bay in a boat which was created to the exact specifications of his Maton acoustic guitar. The reason it struck a chord (pun intended!) with me was that the photo above was taken about 15 minutes walk from my house, I didn’t realise it was called Rozelle Bay I have always just referred to it as Glebe Point which is the park where this photo was probably taken from.
Apparently Josh’s new album is inspired by the sea and maritime adventures, hence the guitar boat. “Ever since I was a kid reading adventure books, especially Huckleberry Finn, I’ve always had a desire to jump on a raft and disappear down a river”. Well now you have… kind of.

Oh my God that is hilarious! he just needs a couple of bikini clad girls on it. I wonder if they could do a Les Paul version.
Haha yeah but I wonder if it would still float! As for the Les Paul thats a great idea, I might find out who built the boat and suggest it!
That’s one huge guitar! Is that for real? I want to see the music video that you’re talking about.

*racks brain to think of ‘dreadnaught’ pun*
Haha, I just hope he has a decent dehumidifier!
How cool is that?!! Ha, ha, imagine how hard it is for him to change strings
Is that really for real?
