Lick Library - Learn To Play Stevie Ray Vaughan Vol 1
A few weeks ago I reviewed a Lick Library instructional DVD called “Guitar Techniques - Stevie Ray Vaughan” where Stuart Bull takes you through licks and techniques from Stevie’s playing to add in to your own playing. Lick Library were also kind enough to send me both “Learn To Play Stevie Ray Vaughan” volumes taught by the excellent guitarist and teacher Jamie Humphries. Each Volume is comprised of 2 DVD’s with a thorough breakdown of the various sections and solos in the songs.

Volume 1 covers Texas Flood, Pride and Joy, Scuttlebuttin’, Cold Shot and The Sky Is Crying. Volume 2 covers Couldn’t Stand The Weather, The House Is Rocking, Change It, Lenny and Rude Mood. If you know Stevie Ray Vaughan’s music you will know that each of these tracks have been chosen because they all have a completely different style and feel so you will learn a broad spectrum of Stevie’s playing styles. The lack of tabs is always a shame with Lick Library DVD’s but Jamie’s instruction is clear and concise and the dual camera shots show in detail both the left and right hand during all examples and Jamie explains every note’s fret and string position and technique being utilised.

If you are a Stevie Ray Vaughan fan and have always wanted to learn some of his greatest hits note for note then this is the ideal package for you, the song choice is an excellent cross-section of Stevie’s career and various playing styles.
