NAMM 2008 - Marshall 1959RR Randy Rhoads Signature
Posted by Jon in • Guitar Amps
Marshall Amplifiers have announced the release of a strictly limited edition signature series amplifier based on the actual amplifier they created for the late great Randy Rhoads. The 1959RR is white and has extra gain compared to the original model which was requested by Randy.
There is a great video from NAMM 2008 filmed by Premier Guitar Magazine which shows the 1959RR and explains some of the background to the amp’s construction. If you would like to hear more of how the amp sounds, and it sounds amazing by the way, check out this youtube video, skip to 2:22 for some Marshall distortion madness!
Clicking on ads has been proven to make you a better guitar player, just wanted to put that out there...

I got the vintage modern Mr. B! I’m deliberately trying to ignore the envy of the whiteness of that amp.
Haha, don’t be envious Paul, I think Vintage Modern better describes you anyway
Actually I wish I had a vintage modern (Marshall if you are listening, hint hint...), I don’t really like the white…
I gotta say… it really does sound amazing!! Very loud though, 4xEL34s?!?! Bricks would fall out of my house… police would arrest me… neighbours would kill me with axes.
I defo prefer the 25W celestions in the Vintage cabs though… ;o)
You’re damn right too… vintage modern, sums me up. I’ve never been a trendy character!!
^^^ 1959RR is loud I mean! ^^^
Vintage Modern with 2 KT66s @ 50w ain’t so bad… surprisingly good at lower volumes. REALLY sweet at destroy the windows type levels.
“REALLY sweet at destroy the windows type levels” haha, could become pretty expensive playing at those Volumes Mr D!
