NAMM 2009: New BC Rich guitars
Posted by Jon in • Cool Guitars,

BC Rich have announced a new line up of guitars for 2009 at NAMM and there are some surprises in there, at least for me there are. Aside from the Metal machines that you would expect, don’t worry they are still there but now with 80’s style graphic finishes added like the Kerry King V2 pictured top, there are an array of Mockingbird variations available either with a Floyd Rose or the very nice vintage style Tune-o-matic fixed bridge version complete with figured Maple top and tobacco sunburst finish. The latter is called the Special X Mockingbird pictured centre and has a pair of Rockfield SWV pickups, Mahogany body and Ebony fingerboard. The other guitar pictured left is the BC Rich Bich double neck that if you are as old as me you will probably remember Lita Ford playing, “Close my eyes forever” was it?. The bottom neck is a 6 string and the top is a 12 string with the octave tuners being rear mounted.
So as you can see from the last 2 there is a definite nod to the vintage or retro style but that is nothing compared to the 40th Anniversary range, for this range BC Rich have re-released the first four guitars Bernie Rico designed. The 40th Anniversary Eagle, 40th Anniversary Mockingbird, 40th Anniversary Seagull and the 40th Anniversary Bich. All of these guitars are made from Koa and share the same styling but are all limited to a run of 40 each so chances are you’re not going to even get to see one of these which is a shame.
