Union Flag Twin Neck
Posted by Jon in • Cool Guitars
I love seeing guitar paint jobs from start to finish, mainly because I have absolutely no idea how people have the ability to envisage what the final design will look like on the instrument and the process involved. Jim Fogarty has a great collection of his custom guitar paint jobs where he has photographed every step and documented the process in order to post on his site. Above is the Union Flag Twin Neck and you can see every step of the graphic creation here. There is also the very strange Strawberry guitar project which I may have feature in its own post one day!
Jim shares some of his drawing tips on the site to help you on your way to creating your own graphical masterpiece!
Clicking on ads has been proven to make you a better guitar player, just wanted to put that out there...

That doubleneck body looks like it’ll be very cumbersome. I wouldn’t fancy having to strap that on.
And the Strawberry… I thought as much - it’s of of Crimson Guitars’ pieces.
GLW - The ‘Strawberry’ was indeed originally one of Crimsons Guitars, but the artwork design and the finishing on it wasn’t.
GLW surely all doublenecks are cumbersome by design? At least this one has a cutaway on the top edge to aid reaching the bottom neck easier.
Hi Jim, thanks for stopping by!
Hi Jon, As you rightly say multineck guitars are almost inevitably going to be more cumbersome - and this one does look big - but actually the body isn’t actually as heavy it appears. I’d be interested to see it again when the necks are fitted though.
Always a pleasure stopping by, and so very flattering to see some of my stuff on here! - thanks for the mention Jon.
Jim, if you get any pics once the necks are fitted please send them on to me I’d like to see the finished product!
Jim - noted. As I recall Ben from Crimson Guitars gave you much praise for coming up with the whole strawberry idea.
Yep, doublenecks are often cumbersome by default, but I suppose people are always going to want them because of the visual statement they make more than anything.
GLW - No problem. You’re quite right in what you say about Ben too, though I have to be honest.......it was actually ‘Wifeys’ idea!
Jon, spoke to Si (the guitar builder of the twin neck) today. He’s promised me pictures of the finished guitar, so when I get them I’ll send them on to you.
Jim
