Wayne Guitars Custom V

Wayne Custom V
If you grew up in the 80’s like me you will no doubt at some point have wanted a Charvel guitar there was a time when almost every rock band had a guitarist wielding a Charvel single humbucker axe, well Charvel still make some pretty cool guitars but they don’t come cheap, I won’t bother going into the complete history of Wayne Charvel but his most famous customer was Eddie Van Halen for whom he made the various striped guitars, and Charvel now sells Eddie Van Halen replica’s based on the models Eddie played.

The company was bought out by Fender in 2002 after a decline in sales during the 90’s due to a global lack of interest in rock music compared to the 80’s. However, sometime during the 90’s Wayne Charvel went back to the workshop and started making custom guitars again just like he used to back in 1974 in his first Charvel workshop. Today I was checking out the Wayne Guitars site and came across this one of a kind Wayne Vee.

Alder wood body, Ebony Fret board straight grain maple neck with top adjust truss rod. Orig. German made Floyd Rose bridge, Seymour Duncan TB-4 Bridge pickup. Very Cool AX !!! $2300.00

Not the usual shape that I associate with Wayne Charvel but very cool and still keeping with his single humbucker simplicity he is famous for.

Turns out that my newly acquired DiMarzio Strat is a Charvel San Dimas era guitar. It’s certainly much nice than Fenders of the same period.

I’ll have to pop over to http://guitarz.blogspot.com and check that one out!

It actually looks more like a Moderne variation to me.  Actually not too far off—just pointier.
