Hot Lixx Hulahan - 2008 World Air Guitar Champ

It’s that time of year again and this time 2 time world champion Dainoji has been dethroned by American Craig ‘Hot Lixx Hulahan’ Billmeier this past weekend in Oulu, Finland. If you watch the video I think you will see why, he is pretty funny and entertaining and certainly has plenty of energy! If only he put that energy into actually playing a guitar… ok I’m not going there or this will end up with me on soap box bitching about Guitar Hero and Air Guitar! Enjoy!

Unstrum Hero

Unstrum Hero is the Air Guitar UK online heat which is being run by E4, all you have to do is upload a 60 second video where you ‘Aireoke’ (perform Air Guitar) to one of the tracks from the set list which include Motorhead ‘Ace of Spades’, Rainbow ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’, Wolfmother ‘Joker and the Thief’ and Bullet for my Valentine ‘Tears Don’t Fall’. The winner will go through to compete in the Air Guitar UK Championship held at the Islington Academy in London on August 8th 2008. Travel and accommodation will be provided for you and a friend to the contest. You will then be flown with a friend to Finland on the 21st August to watch the Air Guitar World Championship. You will be provided with two nights accommodation before being flown home on the 23rd August.

But wait thats not all! The winner also wins a Gibson Les Paul Studio and considering most air guitarists probably don’t know their Les Paul’s from the SG’s they won’t mind that it is a Studio and not a Standard!

Dainoji does it again!

He’s done it again! Ochi “Dainoji” Yosuke is the 2007 Air Guitar World Champion for the second year in a row taking out the opposition in Oulu, Finland on Friday. Ochi Yosuke becomes the second air guitarist who’s ever won two AGWC Finals in a row, along with the 2001 and 2002 World Champion Zac Monro. His prize was a custom made “Flying Finn” guitar, whether this was real or “air” I don’t know, I haven’t seen any photos to prove its existence yet! Would it be this Flying Finn? Looks very similar to the guitar I created with the First Act Guitar Configurator!

To my Australian and UK readers, Wes “Tommy Air Manuel” Roe (Aus) and Gabi “The Hoxton Creeper” Matzeu (UK) tied 16th and USA’s Andrew “William Ocean” Litz was tied in 11th place with Stefan “Bugi” Meier (Switzerland).

I just got sent this link to Bang Bang T-shirts and seeing as William Ocean has just been named US Air Guitar Champion 2007 I thought this T-Shirt was perfect timing! As the winner, Ocean received an “air” trophy, $1000 (actual paper, we believe), and a trip to Oulu, Finland to represent the United States in the Air Guitar World Championships.
