If you read my post yesterday about the Sydney Joe Bonamassa show you will have seen photos of Joe playing his new Comacchio Tele style guitar generously presented to him at the gig by the main man of Comacchio Guitars, John Comacchio himself. This guitar is now known between John and I as the “Ace” as this was how Joe described the guitar after the gig, he hadn’t even plugged the guitar in prior to the show and took a leap of faith to use if for “Bird On A Wire”. Like he said, it could have gone either way with an unknown product but this is no ordinary guitar. For starters the body of TL09001 has a single piece Mahogany body with a Maple cap, the neck is a bolt-on again Maple but with a birdseye Maple fretboard. The sculpted heel joint on John’s guitars are really nice and make playing the guitar very comfortable. The inlays are Pau Abalone and the nut is made from fossilised Mammoth Ivory!? It has a customised single vintage-style rod, Kluson tuners and a Gotoh bridge. Finally the pickups are Kinman Broadcaster and the guitar is finished off with a Dark Black Pearloid pickguard. Oh and one thing I haven’t seen stock on guitars before, Comacchio guitars also come with a Snagg Microchip as a “built-in deterrence against theft, loss, and fraudulent reproduction”.

The attention to detail on this guitar is stunning and John not only makes Tele style guitars but also Strat and LP too.
