Frank Hartung Embrace
I came across this photo on a forum that was discussing guitars from Musikmesse, I hope I don’t get into trouble for using it but I thought it was a fantastic shot, better than the actual photos on the company website. I hadn’t heard of Frank Hartung guitars before but this picture made me want to find out more, I really like the sculpted body it goes back to what Dean Zelinsky said in a recent interview, don’t stray to far from the classic guitar shapes but add something to make it stand out from the very crowded market. The single cutaway shape hints Les Paul but the highly figured Maple top shows that it is made from the finest materials and the body carve makes it quite unique and modern (although DBZ Guitars have something similar in the Bolero). The body is made from Cedro, also called Spanish cedar, which is a hardwood species that ranges through Central and South America you don’t see many guitars using this wood as it needs to be certified as well-managed by the Forest Stewardship Council. The neck is made from Brazilian Rosewood, again another wood that should be certified and the fingerboard from Ebony. Check out the product page and click on the photo of the headstock, it has a 2 piece bound Maple top which give it a very unique look. The pickups are handmade Haussel Hot B (bridge) and Vin N (neck).

Here is a quote from Hartung regarding the body carve:

My exclusive and protected FLOW CARVING design is absolutely unique in the world of guitars. The contour lines run fluently into the surface and add a 3-dimensional effect to the overall appearance. It seems as if two top planks melt into each other and shape a perfect object. This striking feature is completely hand-made and creates a unique design.
