As you may have already seen Marshall Amplifiers announced a new series of amps at Musikmesse Frankfurt 2009 last week called Haze, these all tube amps come in a mini 15 watt stack with 1×12 Celestion loaded cabinets or a 40 watt combo. Both 2 channel amps also feature digital effects. Both amps have 3 12AX7 tubes in the preamp section and the MHZ15 is powered by 2 6V6 output tubes while the MHZ40C is powered by 2 EL34′s. An included two-way footswitch allows for channel switching between normal and overdrive (both of which share a 3 band EQ) and turning effects on and off (authentically-voiced Echo, Vibrato, and Chorus), an emulated spring-reverb is also included which has its own pot.
Marshall have updated their website which by the way sucks for such a major manufacturer but they have included a video demo for each amp which you can find here, just click on the appropriate button at the bottom. The amps sound good but with only a volume pot on the normal channel I’m not sure how versatile the 40 watt combo is, in the demo the normal channel breaks up a lot once you get to 1/3 volume so you can’t really call it a clean channel maybe it needs a master volume?
UPDATE: Check out this video too of Doug Aldrich from Whitesnake demoing the Haze series at Musikmess Frankfurt 2009
