The last time I featured a Manson guitar on Guitar Noize it was made from a toilet seat but there is nothing crappy about this guitar! (oh ho ho). I actually spotted the new Matt Bellamy from Muse’s signature Manson guitar over at MusicRadar.com and in fact they have a video demonstration by Matt of how this guitar actually works. You see the guitar is fitted with a Midi Control Screen and a Fernandes Sustainer Humbucker in the neck position, the latter is pretty common knowledge but I’ve never seen an x/y midi control screen like this on a guitar before, I have seen something similar but it was more of a theremin style device than a controller. The idea with the midi control screen is that you can map it to control your effects, or as MusicRadar.com pointed out, anything really including stage lighting!
It looks kind of fun but I have enough trouble concentrating on not being crap without the added distraction of making crazy noises with effects, it is all a bit Jean-Michel Jarre on a laser harp for me.
