The idea of the JamHub is pretty solid, a tool that is designed for bands to rehearse in silence, well that is how they describe it, more on that in a second. Basically what you have is a mixing desk that each person plugs into that allows each individual to set up their own headphone mix, so say your bass player is known to give the master volume a quick flick when noone is looking you can turn him down in your headphone mix and, if you are a guitarist, I daresay boost your own levels.
The JamHub comes in 4 flavours, JamHub Bedroom for up to 5 simultaneous musicians, the JamHub GreenRoom for up to 7 simultaneous musicians and the JamHub TourBus which is similar to the GreenRoom version but with a few added extras such as built-in recording to SD RAM card and a Metronome built into the recording system.
Sounds good except in order for my band to use this we would all have to go to the extra measure of mic’ing up our amps, not sure if you’ve ever heard the line out from a tube amp without any kind of speaker emulation but it is not pretty! Aside from that though I think it is an excellent idea that would reduce the need for excessive volumes in rehearsals and allow each amp to be set to the same volume and each musician decides how loud each person should be, no more battle of the egos!
