For years guitarists have been forced to tune their guitar one string at a time which is time consuming even with the fastest tuner so some clever chap who goes by the YouTube username of DspInventor has created some software that allows you to play all your guitars’ open strings and the algorithm isolates each string and shows quite clearly and accurately which strings are out of tune. The video above goes into greater detail and it is pretty interesting to see the harmonic overtones in the initial demo too and how he had to isolate certain frequencies for each string. From the YouTube comments it seems Jim D’Addario is already interested in developing this software into a product so watch this space!
