Polyphia - Muse
I first heard about Polyphia via my Canadian chum Nick Johnston who announced on his Facebook page that he was recording a solo on a track for the band. The track is called ‘Champagne’ and is featured on the recently released album ‘Muse’, you can check out the official video below. Before I’d had a chance to hear that track however Polyphia released a video of the catchiest instrumental metal tunes I’ve ever heard and it instantly hooked me, the track is called ‘Sweet Tea’ and features Aaron Marshall of Intervals. This track combines pop melodies with technically challenging riffs and blistering guitar solos. It has a kind of J-Pop catchiness to it but at the same time an extremely sophisticated level of guitar playing, check it out here:

Sweet Tea (feat. Aaron Marshall of Intervals)

“All aged 20-21, the Texan instrumental outfit are ready to show the world their debut full-length, Muse. Equally inspired by guitar wizards Guthrie Govan and Rick Graham, and the pop sensibility of the R&B/rap world, Muse is a 44 minute ride full of groove, ear-teasing riffs and melodies and blindsiding musical brilliance. Who needs vocals?â€

Yes, aged between 20-21… depressing huh? Well it is to someone my age!

Catch Polyphia on tour with Monuments throughout September in the US, a full list of dates can be found here.
